Celebrating Success and Community Connection
The Palawa Business Hub proudly delivered a month-long program of activities for Aboriginal Business Month 2025, celebrating Aboriginal business excellence across Lutruwita/ Tasmania. This year’s Aboriginal Business Month was reflected throughout every event, from regional pop-ups to the Aboriginal Business Showcase in Nipaluna/ Hobart.
Program Delivery Overview of Activities:
11 activities were delivered between 1 October and 31 October 2025, which included:
- Pop-ups and Black Coffee networking sessions across Lutruwita/ Tasmania.
- Delivery of educational workshops covering business related topics.
- On-Country cultural experiences led by Aboriginal business across Lutruwita/ Tasmania.
- The Aboriginal Business Showcase in Nipaluna/ Hobart.
- A Community Meet & Greet Gathering in Launceston.
Aboriginal Business Showcase Highlights & Key Achievements:
- A major event of bringing together 30 Aboriginal-owned businesses.
- We had a new Aboriginal business do a mini launch.
- Provided a platform for businesses to display products, services, and cultural enterprises.
- Generated new partnerships, procurement discussions, and media visibility for Aboriginal business excellence.
- Attended by 300 community members, representatives from government, industry, and support services.
- Panel discussion facilitated by Ryk Goddard of the ABC and 3 Aboriginal Businesses was very informative.
Feedback gathered through event discussions and informal surveys of Aboriginal businesses and individuals highlighted that people appreciated that the events were Aboriginal-led and felt safe and welcoming. They valued the opportunities provided and felt supported as Aboriginal businesses. Many Aboriginal businesses stated that they want more events in the future and said their confidence and awareness of available business support had grown. They also asked for ongoing training and more chances to take part in showcase or market stall activities. Overall, the feedback reflected a strong sense of pride and success across the community.
The 2025 Aboriginal Business Month program, led by the Palawa Business Hub, was an outstanding success. It created meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal businesses to be seen, supported, and celebrated across Lutruwita/ Tasmania.
