Our first feature artist whose cultural elements are woven throughout the new Palawa Business Hub is Bianca Templar.
Of her artwork being selected to feature on the Hub, Bianca said: “I feel proud to have my artwork selected, as this is the first of its kind for Lutruwita and allows us artists peace of mind knowing organisations now have access to a resource that ensures that whoever they’re selecting is authentic and respectfully represents their community.”
“The Hub assures due diligence with all the listed Aboriginal businesses, allowing our people to have the opportunities they deserve.”
About her artwork, Bianca explains, “The artwork represents aspects of our island home of Lutruwita, from the shells we use to make our necklaces that we collect from the beach to the native animals and insects that also call our island home. Not only did I want to show our love for our Island, but also the importance of taking care of our Island; otherwise, we risk losing these unique aspects that make Lutruwita unlike any other Island.”
Sara Maynard, the Hub’s Business Development Manager said, “Bianca’s work complements Janice Ross’s art framing the new Palawa Business Hub and brings a contemporary look and feel to the Hub while respecting our enduring culture.”
Bianca Templar is a proud Tasmanian Aboriginal woman who grew up strong in culture, learning from her grandmother, Aunty Gloria Templar. Her artistic grandparents have influenced her work and have always encouraged her to be strong in who she is, proud of where she comes from and keep her culture continuing.
